Late Spring Music Festival 2023

From Friday 2 to Sunday 4 June 2023, Reggia di Venaria will host the first edition of the Late Spring Music Festival, the innovative music project created, with Reggia di Venaria, by Claudio Pasceri, one of Italy's most appreciated cellists and former artistic director of other prestigious festivals, who as "artist in residence" plays the role of creative interpreter of Venaria Reale's very own genius loci, selecting the pieces of music and their matching performance spaces.

The festival will propose a selection of musical appointments over the three days devoted to great music. The lead role will be taken over by artists of international standing performing in the iconic locations of the complex: the evocative Hall of Diana and the Church of St. Hubert, the grand Gardens and the imposing Great Gallery. 

Each musical appointment has been designed ad hoc to suit the spaces hosting it and deals, at “different temperatures”, with epochs and styles ranging from Baroque to today's music, also including outstanding names from Classicism and Romanticism.

The musicians will be at the Reggia to perform solo repertoires and to get together to play chamber pieces.
The event will feature Ilya Grubert, the Latvian violinist deemed one of the top virtuosos of our times, contemporary music icon Irvine Arditti, gifted composer and pianist  Michaël Levinas from France, and soprano Marion Grange; Enrico Maria Baroni,  clarinet soloist from the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della Rai (Rai - Italy's national public broadcasting company - National Symphonic Orchestra); Viennese Chaos String Quartet, one of the most appreciated new-generation ensembles, as well as American cellist  Annie Jacobs-Perkins who belongs to the circle of the most interesting talents on the international scene. Last but not least, composer Vittorio Montalti with the piece he has specially composed for Reggia di Venaria, whose world debut will be on 2 June in the evening.

The matinee-concerts will open each of the three days of the Late Spring Music Festival, while the afternoon appointments will offer the audience further creative paths, to suit both those purposely coming to the event and those approaching the musical activities just by chance.  
The musical appointments will take place at different moments of the three days, which will conclude with the Evening Sounds, longer concerts with a more articulate programme.  The daytime musical moments will be open to Reggia and festival visitors, subject to availability, while admission to the evening concerts requires the purchase of a dedicated ticket.

A selection of music-themed meetings will alternate with musical moments: the daily appointment with the Conversations with Enzo Restagno, one of the most authoritative voices of European musicology; the daily episodes of The Voice of the Instruments, to discover musical instruments, aimed at children; the meetings with photographer Valentina Vannicola,  who will talk about her own way of intending photography and of her experience with the Late Spring Music Festival and, finally, the accounts by Bernard Neumann, one of the most prominent living luthiers, who will disclose Stradivarius' secrets, narrating his connections with the great European courts.
